1992. Studio set up as a progression from successful artist's residency in the psychiatric ward of North Tyneside General Hospital.

1993. Studio wins Astra award.

1994. Two artists hold joint exhibition at Buddle Arts Centre, Wallsend. Artist in residence wins bursary from RAB to travel to Brazil.

1995. Studio initiates artist residency of artist Ruth Schneider from Brazil . Two artists win national competition organised by CMHSD and their work featured in resulting calendar.They receive awards at the ICA and work tours nationally.

1996. Rob Belilios, studio artist makes reciprocal visit to Brazil, his work exhibiting in Passo Fundo. Studio wins funding to set up small forge facility and to send artists to blacksmith's "Blinc" conference.

1997. Studio Exhibition at "WOW" (Fish Quay) Festival, North Shields. "Heads Of Grey Matter", an exhibition of 12 giant portraits created by 11 studio artists plus R.Laycock shown in Gallery space on Tynemouth Metro Bridge, with large poster sites throughout Metro system. Studio artist-volunteer commissioned to make video during Mental Health Awareness day, recording comments by service users and providers.

1998. Collaboration with Project Ability in Glasgow on exhibition entitled "Notes From The Cities". Exhibition shown at Buddle Arts Centre with artists from both studios present. This project marks the beginning of our involvement with ING Barings, who part funded the exhibition.

Three studio artists commissioned to work on community arts project in Belfast.

Studio participate in community project with Kate Ingram of Open Arts in Northern Ireland, creating a Barrikit. Exhibition space in Whitley Bay Playhouse Foyer given over to North Tyneside Art Studio to provide rolling programme of its own and others work.

1999. Rob Belilios gains Millennium award, using it to travel to South Africa. NTC and SRB agree to fund a 6 month's artist residency by Belilios on Longbenton Estate. Studio collaborates with Whitley Bay Chamber of Commerce on St. Nicholas festival.

2000. Tynemouth Station Millennium Exhibition.
Working with Nexus Metro Personnel, North Tyneside Art Studio produced three 20ft. digital prints to be displayed in the station.

"Art On Prescription"
a) an exhibition of work rotating between three primary care centres in North Tyneside.
b) Pilot scheme funded by Common Knowledge involving North Tyneside Art Studio and referrals from local GPs.
Longbenton Carnival community event on Longbenton Estate based on Rob's residency : costumes designed and made with local children to clothe the pageant

"Bearing Gifts" Exhibition of work in collaboration with two North East Studios hosted by Ing Barings in London Wall.

Laura Bradley : Solo exhibition, November.

2001."Aspects" Solo exhibition by Irene Vernon Roll.

Studio featured in "Creative Connections" by Phyllida Shaw, sponsored by Arts & Business and M & S.

2002. "Discerning Eye Exhibition"
Studio artists feature in the "Discerning Eye" exhibition at ING Bank's headquarters, London.

"100 DAYS" August: Linskill Centre, the borough's biggest community centre and the Studio's home is threatened with immediate closure by the Conservative Mayor of North Tyneside. The Studio leads a campaign to save the centre and with other threatened organisations marks the Mayor's first 100 days in office with a giant 12 metre long banner featuring the names of 100 people affected by the proposed cuts which is draped across the front of the town hall in Wallsend. During a night of high drama, and to cheering form the public gallery, the Mayor's plans are defeated by the full council.

Studio's 10th Anniversary Party. In November, Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell, and many other guests attend the party to celebrate 10 years since our official opening.

2003. Metro Poster Campaign February. A public art project based on Linskill Community Centre. Posters are displayed around the Metro light railway transport system, featuring users and activities at the Centre. The project is directed by Alan Vaughan, stars some of the Studio's artists, and the sites are donated by NEXUS the Metro operator. Photography by Stan Gamester.
